Extracting arguments into standard form and then identifying them as inductive or deductive

Objective

  • Extract arguments into standard form and then determine if they are inductive or deductive

In this section, we will combine the skills that we have learned thus far. I will ask you to read a few passages and then to put those passages in standard form (make sure to follow all the steps that I covered). I will then ask you to identify the argument as inductive or deductive. If it’s inductive I want you to then determine whether it is strong, and if it is strong, you should then determine if it is cogent. If it is deductive then you should determine if it’s valid and if it’s valid then you should determine if it is sound.

Comprehensive Questions

Extract the following passages and then indicate which of the following labels applies to each extracted argument: inductive, deductive, strong, cogent, valid, sound.
