33 Be Active on LinkedIn

Being engaged on LinkedIn helps keep your connections thinking about you, as your posts are included on your connections’ feeds. Through active engagement on LinkedIn you are maintaining your professional relationships. There are many ways to be active on LinkedIn, including: posting, commenting, and reposting.

Posting on LinkedIn

Once your profile is created and you have a few connections you can begin posting on LinkedIn. Before you post, look at your feed to see what others in your network are posting. This will help you come up with your own ideas, but here are a few things people typically post about:

  • Attendance at a professional event, such as a conference or an employer sponsored event
  • Professional accomplishment, such as accepting a new position or a promotion, or an award you receive from your employer/school
  • Promoting an event
  • Linking to relevant industry article
  • Question or poll
  • Story about your brand/company
  • Video/photos from an event
  • Celebrating a company/team success

LinkedIn posts typically have attractive graphics or photos, and sometimes your employer will provide you with the graphic and/or the information for a post on something they would like to promote. If you choose to include graphics, photos, or video, be sure that it is of professional quality.
