26 The References Page Format

The reference page is very simple to format. There is not a set group of rules to follow, it should just include your name and contact information, all the necessary information for each of your three references, have “References” written along the top of the page, and be easy to skim.

It should follow the traditional rules of professional documents, be in a 12-point font (I suggest Times New Roman), left aligned, with 1-inch margins all the way around. Consider copying and pasting the letterhead from your resume and cover letter to keep it consistent with your other materials.

Here is an example references page:
